Loretta M. Alves

Loretta was the daughter of the late Edward and Doris (Prada) Amaral and lived on the cape most of her life. She graduated from Provincetown High School, Class of 1961 and went on to begin her career working for the telephone company; first as a telephone operator in Provincetown; then moving on to work in Boston and Hyannis until her retirement a number of years ago, Loretta was very active in St. Peter the Apostle Church in Provincetown, serving as a Eucharistic Minister, the Parish council, St.Vincent De Paul Society and Loretta was also the recipient of the Marian Medal.

Loretta was predeceased by her husband, Robert T. Alves of North Truro, who died in March of 2004 and by her brother, Ronald Amaral of Provincetown.

Loretta is survived by her very close cousins, Janet Russe Francis of Orleans, Ma. and Jane Russe Cavanaugh of East Longmeadow, Ma.; her stepson, Joel Grozier and his partner, Jennifer Creech of North Truro, her niece, Carolyn Amaral Kosensky of Lakeland, Florida. She was "Aunt Loretta" to her numerous cousins who survive her, and also leaves behind her close friends and church family.

Loretta's Memorial Mass will take place on Saturday, April 20 at St. Peter the Apostle Church at 10:00AM with burial to follow at St. Peter's Cemetery.
