Lewis "Luke" Collins Fox, of Wellfleet, died June 2nd from complications during his struggle with cancer. Luke was born on December 16th, 1953, in Montclair, New Jersey, and was predeceased by his parents Edwin and Elizabeth Fox.
He attended Fairly Dickinson in New Jersey and Dean College in Ma, earning a BA studying Russian, and International Law. Shortly after graduating, Luke moved to Wellfleet, where his family had often visited his grandparents Lewis and Margaret Greenman, as he was growing up. He soon became enmeshed in the community, befriending many who were building their lives there at that time. He worked as a garbageman, for the department of public works, and later in electrical construction; doing his part to keep things on the Cape running.
Luke married his wife Lisa in Wellfleet in 1981, where they raised their two sons in a house that he and his friends built. He approached most of the challenges he met in life this way, teaching himself what he needed to as he went along. A voracious reader, who liked keeping up with the news, or relaxing with a history book; he was always ready to discuss national politics, football, or local development- especially if he got to share a joke. He was a life-long lover of music: following the Grateful Dead in his younger years and continuing to attend concerts and performances across the Cape and beyond. Luke loved local seafood, driving his car in the 4th of July parade, and just checking in on all the people (and all the dogs) that he met during his many years on Cape. Luke is survived by his wife, Lisa, his son Levon and his wife Casey, his son Spencer, brother Matthew and his wife Randy, sister Margaret, numerous relatives, and by friends near and far.
