Janet Doherty

Janet Moira Doherty died peacefully in her sleep at her home in Wellfleet, Massachusetts on April 15, 2019. She was the fourth of six children and was predeceased by her parents, Jamie and Mary O’Flaherty Doherty, and her older brother Jimmy (Mary). She leaves her much loved son Liam Doherty Nicholson, his wife Chelsea Peterson and grandson Wilder, who was the joy of her life.

She also leaves sisters and brothers, Carolyn Egan, Pamela Hallett, Brian Doherty, Christopher Doherty (Mary Beth), and many nieces and nephews, as well as her dear friend Bucky Killpatrick. She graduated from Newton Country Day School of the Sacred Heart and attended George Washington University.

Janet was a talented horticulturist and her beautiful gardens gave joy to so many. She was a fixture in the Wellfleet community and loved Cape Cod where she lived all of her adult life. She was a free spirit who cherished her Irish heritage and was a lively presencewho always spoke her mind. She will be sorely missed by her family and many friends.

A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
