Adam passed away peacefully in Cape Cod Hospital from complications of a long term lung disease. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Eva Maria Wolf, of Provincetown, and their goddaughter, Christine Komenda, of Worcester, MA.
Adam enjoyed a long, eventful life, filled with service to his adopted country and his community. He survived the horrors of WWII, fled from communism in Hungary in the 1950s, and became a US citizen in 1964.
He served in the Army National Guard of Massachusetts and the Army Reserve for six years and was honorably discharged.
He moved to Provincetown soon afterwards and bought an apartment building that became a home for himself and his new bride after they married, as well as for many other working people over the years. Adam made his living as a carpenter and contractor, raised a garden, enjoyed fishing and hunting, and the beautiful land and sea of Cape Cod.
Adam was active for over 42 years as a volunteer firefighter with the Provincetown Fire Department and was among the first members of the Provincetown Rescue Squad as it was formed.
He was a well respected member of his community who never stopped giving back, and was always available to lend a helping hand to others.
Adam will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
No funeral will be held, but a private ceremony is planned for sometime later in the Provincetown Dunes. If you would like to make a donation in his honor, two charities that Adam supported are St. Jude’s Hospital for Children and Doctors Without Borders.
