William Robert Weimer was born on July 23, 1938 in Detroit, Michigan. He was the only child of Alice Videan Weimer and Walter Fredrick Weimer. After graduating from the University of Michigan in 1961 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Science Engineering, Bill worked as a computer engineer for Burroughs Corporation before packing his car to drive to Houston and join NASA Johnson Space Center in 1964. He met the love of his life, Patricia A. Weimer, on a blind date and enjoyed almost 42 years of marriage before she passed in 2007. Bill worked in several divisions at NASA, retiring after 34 years of service in 1998. In addition to traveling the US, completing Sudoku puzzles and reading, Bill was a long-time volunteer at the Villa de Matel and Houston Public Library.
He is survived by son, Eric W. Weimer and daughter-in-law Allison L.Z. Weimer; daughter, Lisa Weimer Anderson and son-in-law R. Christopher Anderson; and grandsons, Alan J. Anderson and Sean W. Anderson, as well as beloved friends and family.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, November 12, 2017 from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at Grandview Funeral Home, 8501 Spencer Hwy, Pasadena, TX 77505. Funeral Service will be held on Monday, November 13, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at Forest Park East Cemetery Chapel, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
