William “Bill” Gardner of Huffman, TX was born in Deming, New Mexico on May 29, 1956 to Harold Gene Gardner and Elizabeth Annie Post. The Gardner family moved from Deming, NM to the Houston area in 1968 where he attended South Houston High School and graduated in 1975. After graduating high school and starting a family he attended the Computer Learning Center of Houston where he earned a degree in Computerized Office Administration. He worked in the oil and gas industry as a Project Controls Engineer for the last 30 years.
In his off time, Bill enjoyed being outdoors, whether it was RV’ing, boating, camping or just sitting out on the patio. He loved barbecuing and would spend hours in front of his smoker tending the fire. He was always eager to help friends and family fix whatever needed fixing or building whatever needed building. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his family. He adored his grandkids, and loved having them around and attending their numerous sporting events and extracurricular activities.
He was a loving and caring father, husband, and son, and will be sorely missed by all that knew and loved him.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon Gardner from Huffman,TX; his daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Stephen Aaron from Georgetown, TX; his daughter and son-in-law Melissa and Matt Ray, from League City, TX; and stepson and wife Kenneth and Suzanne Rabourn from San Antonio, TX. Bill also leaves behind 6 grandkids; Bailey, Evan, and Makinzie Ray; Caleb Aaron; and Kimberly and Samantha Rabourn as well as numerous nieces, nephews and other extended family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Gene Gardner; his mother, Elizabeth Coots; his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Neal Anderson; his brother, Roy Gardner; and his first wife, Barbara Gardner.
The family will receive family and friends to celebrate his life on April 22nd from 5:00 – 8:00pm at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, TX. A service of remembrance and interment will also be held at Forest Park East on April 23rd at 10am.
