Wendell was born in Colorado City, Texas on June 29, 1953, to James W. Rogers and Mable Rogers.
He was a member of Wayside & Sherman Church of Christ and Southeast Church of Christ. Wendell was known for being a natural-born athlete, excelling in baseball and basketball.
He was preceded in passing by his parents, James and Mable Rogers of Houston, Texas.
He is survived by his sister Brenda Dupree of Indianapolis, Indiana, as well as his brother Douglas Rogers of Friendswood, Texas.
