Vera Lee Stewart

She attended school in Deer Park, graduating high school in 1953. Through her friendship with the three Stewart sisters, Shirley, Sis, and Mary, she met her devoted husband, Hubert Stewart, whom she married in 1956.

Vera loved the outdoors, especially Garner State Park, Galveston Island and Colorado. She introduced her daughters, their spouses, and her grandchildren to these beautiful spots. Visiting these places became a family tradition, producing many warm memories across three generations.

Vera also loved animals and there were always cats and dogs to greet visitors to her home. Vera had a profound respect for all of nature that she passed on to her children and grandchildren. For Vera, the world held boundless variety and adventure.

Vera’s highest priority was always her family. Beginning with her mother, father and younger brother Danny, her family circle expanded with her inclusion into the Stewart family via friendship and then marriage. Vera devoted energy and passion to her three daughters, and as their families grew, Vera was presented with one of her greatest joys in life: being Oma to four grandchildren.

Vera is preceded in death by her parents, Neva and Frank, as well as her brother, Danny. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Hubert Stewart, her daughters Audrey Stewart-Vuper (Mike), Suzanne Stewart-Daumas (Henri), Deanna Stewart-Knight (Lannie), granddaughters Tessa and Ailie Vuper, grandsons Mason and Wyatt Daumas and a host of beloved family members including sisters and brothers, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Alzheimer’s Association.

Visitation is at Forest Park East Funeral Home on Sunday, August 19, 2018 from 5 to 8 P.M. Funeral services will be at Forest Park East Funeral Home Chapel on Monday, August 20, 2018 at 12:30 P.M.

Pallbearers will be Mike Vuper, Henri Daumas, Lannie Knight, Mason Daumas, Wyatt Daumas, and Alex DeMonbrun
