In the comfort of her home, Tommie Jean Brown went to be with the Lord on Thursday, October 31, 2024. Tommie was born in Dallas, Texas on April 15, 1930. While living in Dallas, she met the love of her life William E. ‘Bill’ Brown in 1948. Bill and Tommie were married on April 1, 1949.
Over the years, Tommie enjoyed a long and rewarding career, including working for Houston First Savings and later Williams Kherker law firm. Above all else, Tommie was devoted to her family. She was a loving wife and mother and a cherished grandmother and great grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 57 years, William E. ‘Bill’ Brown and her parents, Avo Shaw O’Rear and Thomas Shaw.
Tommie is survived by her daughter Linda Humphries and husband Donnie, daughter Brenda Johnson, her brother who she raised as her son Edwin E. ‘Bud’ Groves and wife Julia, her grandchildren Christina Tinker and husband Jonathan, Stephanie Lucas and husband Gary, Willie Toole and wife Amanda, Matthew Humphries and wife Jackie, Angie Humphries, Brittani Johnson (fiancé Nathan Ward), Tiffany Stodder and husband Roger, and great grandchildren Samantha Lucas (fiancé Michael Greer), Jeremiah Stubblefield, Jayden Stubblefield, Joshua Toole, Jayden Johnson, Alex Tinker, Halie Humphries, Andrew Tinker, Ana Tinker, Hagen Humphries and Corbin Stodder. Tommie is also survived by half-siblings Andy O’Rear and Darlene Thomason, nieces, nephews, other extended family members, treasured friends and devoted care givers that will miss her dearly.
