Thomas M. Kivney

Thomas ( Tom) Michael Kivney, was born in Hartford CT on February 11, 1918 and died peacefully on March 3, 2012. He enjoyed many retirement years in Cape Cod, Florida and Village on the Park in Friendswood ,TX. Tom was President of Jeremiah Sullivan Sons and proprietor of J.F. Olsons in Cambridge, Massachusetts . Earlier in life he was Regional Manager for Frito Lay Company and served in WWII in the Pacific.

Tom is preceded in death by his loving wife Ellen Sullivan and special friend Mary Aalto. He is survived by his children Maureen Kivney, Tom Kivney and wife Sally, Ann Kivney and husband Charles Foshee and Gerard Kivney and wife Lianne; grandchildren, Ian de la Houssaye, Matthew de la Houssaye, Katie Davis and husband John Davis, Hannah Foshee, Thomas Kivney, Sean Kivney and Selena Kivney; and many nieces and nephews. At a later date the family is to gather for a service and celebration of Tom’s life at St. Peters Catholic Church in Cambridge MA where he will be buried at Mt Auburn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be given to Special Olympics, www.specialolymics.org.

Family and friends honor Tom’s wisdom, optimism, warm heart, and devotion to family. He was an avid reader, lover of politics, golfer, sailer, sports fan, confidant to many, and always enjoyed keeping current with local and world events and trends.

His family would like to thank Windsong Rehabilitation and Skilled Nursing Facility who cared for Tom in his last days.
