Chef Tate Was a Amazing Chef he will forever be missed by Erreel Mercado Amen

Chef was the type of teacher and person in general who when he spoke people (we) wanted to listen. This picture is showing some first years intently listening to chef Tate as he speaks on after the ending of their first dinner as Chef’s culinary students. We all connected to him on a deeper level than a normal teacher. We were all family. We know that he’ll be right there beside us as we go throughout the rest of our lives criticizing us and loving us. Love you Chef!

I had one of my best meals ever when Tate prepared Charo's 30th bday dinner. Every course was amazing! I appreciated his servant heart and his hospitality.

“Bean” as he called you! You will always be his princess! He was proud of his baby girl! 

I can’t express how much I will miss Tate. He has been with me my whole life and I will carry his love and light into everything I do. 

Tate may have been the only person that totally captivated my attention with science instruction.  His passion was infectious!

He taught his students to be creative and made culinary arts a true "art."

 I think I licked the plate after I finished eating this one.

May not be pretty, but you can sure sink your teeth into this magnificent creation.

Chef Tate's talents were gifts to his students, patrons, and fellow teachers. 

I worked with Tate for only a short time, but his loss will certainly be felt by all that were lucky enough to have known him, both professionally and personally.  I am lucky enough to say I fell into both of those categories. This is just one example of the professional and personal relationships blending into one....Gunner's welcome to  the world baby shower hosted by the CTE department at the school we worked at together.  Thank you Tate for being you. 

I will never forget all those softball games and tourneys we played together... one of the best  times of my life! He was a great friend that i will truly miss.

My memory is a 2-in-1 since they so often went hand-in-hand with each other.  Many times I would be walking down the hallway coming or going from my classroom and Tate would ask me to, "Come taste this.", so I would quickly stop over since I knew everything was going to be amazing.  On the flip side, I would get random knocks on my classroom door and culinary students would have a kitchen tool or utensil that Chef wanted me to replicate or build from scratch with my 3D printer.  We just kept swapping services the entire time he was across the hall.  I think I will miss that the most.

Thank you for all you did for the students at Clear Creek High School. They loved traveling to Clear Springs and working with you each and every day.  You had such a tremendous impact of the lives of so many young people.   

Tate you  are missed. I always enjoyed visiting with you. You thought me some very interesting techniques. Even though I wasn’t there to learn. You cared for all your students as if they were your own.

Im so sorry for your loss. Keeping your family in my thoughts and  prayers. I was a student of Mr. Roussel’s good science class in 2015 and am saddened to hear this news. He was my favorite teacher and will never forget how sweet of a person he was.
 

Dear Kathleen and Roussel Family,

Kathleen I wish I could break the cliché of statements written when people pass. Unfortunately, I cannot think of anything that will ease your pain in the current state. Hopefully one day these messages will provide solace and fond memories. Tate was always energetic and full of life. He was an essential colleague who provided creativity and so much to me and all the teachers at Clear Springs. May God bring you comfort through the low and tough days and happiness and strength for the future. His legacy will live through you and his beautiful children. Legacies are built through the foundation of families.

I had coach Roussel my junior year of high school. He was my food science teacher and a coach to me my sophomore year. 

He wound up being one of if not my favorite teacher I had at clear springs. He had an amazing sense of humor and made class genuinely fun and interesting. He was understanding when it came to grades and was always a great listening ear for anyone and everyone. 

Till we meet again coach. 

I have no words to express my sympathy. Tate will live in our hearts forever. A son, a husband, a brother, a father, a mentor and a great Chef who instills his passion for food, life, family and faith to everyone who knows him. Kathleen, you were the love of his life. Gunner, we will never let you forget how wonderful you Dad was. TJ and Taylor, your Dad always believed in you and was proud of you and happy to have been your confidant. His love for you is forever. Ruby and Janelle, this lost is unimaginable and I send my heart to you. Let us all remember how special and dedicated he was to everyone in his life.  No one was a stranger for long in his eyes.

Please accept my condolences.  We are praying for you and your family in this difficult time.  I had the opportunity to meet Tate about 8 years ago when he joined the CCISD family.  He was kind, gentle, fun, and it was evident that he enjoyed what he did to serve the community of CCISD and League City.
