Sylvia Gonzalez, 77, of Houston, TX passed away on December 26, 2023. She was born and raised in Texas City, TX on December 14, 1946. She graduated from Texas City High School in 1965. Over the years, she worked for Walmart, Hallmark, and Marshalls. Sylvia was a dedicated member of several organizations including America Needs Fatima, Paralyzed Veterans of America, Wounded Warrior Project, and Nature Conservancy.
Sylvia was dependable and everyone will always remember her caring nature. She was very determined and strong willed in everything that she loved. And from that came her resilient hard-working ethics. Not only did she work hard, she played hard too by having many hobbies from scrapbooking to football to bingo to sewing and even indoor gardening!
She was preceded in death by her mother Lupe Avila and daughters Yolanda Gonzalez and Cynthia Gonzalez.
She is survived by her son Henry Gonzalez and daughter-in-law Nancy Gonzalez; grandson Julian Gonzalez; granddaughter Isabella Gonzalez; sister Carmen Nelson; brother-in-law Mike Nelson; nephew Mike Nelson, Jr; and niece Kathy Wisner.

A visitation for Sylvia will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas on Monday, January 15, 2024 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 7:00 pm. A funeral mass will occur Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:30 am. at St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, located at 18223 Point Lookout
Drive in Houston, Texas followed by a committal service at Forest Park East Cemetery.
