Shirley R. Kilday 73, of Clear Lake, Texas passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, November 26, 2013. She was born November 30, 1939 in Greeneville, Tennessee the daughter of the late John and Alma (Moore) Idell.
Shirley graduated from Rollins College in Florida with a degree in elementary education. She loved teaching 5th grade and continued to teach until moving to Clear Lake. She was an accomplished artist and pursued her passion for painting until she lost her eyesight.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Joseph B. Kilday; her daughter Charissa and her husband John Deatherage; her grandchildren John Eric, Shane and Tonya Deatherage; her sister Peggy Byrd; her sister-in-law Renate Idell; as well as her loving nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sister Ruby Hawk and her brother John C. Idell.
Funeral services will be held at Forest Park East in Webster, TX at 12:30 pm on December 2, 2013. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to The Foundation Fighting Blindness.
She will be dearly missed by her friends and family.
