Shirley was born on October 10, 1949 to Bob and Mittie Deaton in Abilene, Texas. She grew up in Houston and attended South Houston High School.
She spent much of her career working in human resources, apartment management and recruiting. Shirley dedicated her life to being a fantastic and wonderful mother. She excelled at propping up her kids and grandkids and supporting them through the many passions and difficulties of their lives. Shirley never met a stranger, was kind to everyone she met, and had a knack for touching people’s hearts time and time again.
Shirley had a love for music and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found in her listening to her favorite artists and loved attending live concerts when she could. We will miss her greatly.
Shirley was preceded in death by her mom and dad, Bob and Mittie Deaton.
She is survived by her sister Karol and husband Garry; her kids Eric, Brady and Hanna; her grandkids, Aubrey, Paige, Ashlyn, Soren, Xavier, Isaiah, Eli, Ayla, and Mariah as well as many loved family members and friends.
The family requests that all flowers and notes are sent to Forest Park East Funeral Home, or in lieu of flowers a donation to the Parkinson’s Foundation in her memory. There will be a celebration of life at 2:00 pm, Monday, May 15th at Forest Park East Funeral Home. Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared below for the family.
