Robert “Bob” Fulton Barton, 95, of Schulenburg, Texas, passed away April 15, 2017. He was born in Texas City, Texas on March 29, 1922 to Walton Haywood Barton, Sr. and Maye Viola Pitts Barton. He was married to Anita Johnson Barton for 71 years. Bob had a career in Engineering. Bob served as a midshipman in the U.S. Navy Flight Training Command in WWII from March 1942 to August 1943. He also served as an Armorer/ Gunner in the U.S. Army Air Corps from September 1943 to January 1946 and also served as a reservist in the U.S. Air Force from February 1946 to February 1949. Bob was a member of the Pasadena Masonic Lodge # 1155 and a proud member of the Experimental Aircraft Association for over 31 years. Bob was a licensed pilot and had a passion for flying, traveling with Anita in their motorhome and restoring classic airplanes.
Bob was preceded in death by his daughter, Robbie Lee Barton, parents, Walton Haywood Barton, Sr., and Maye Viola Pitts Barton, brother, W. H. “Ted” Barton, Jr., sons in law, Frank Wright Ybarguen, Jr., Orin Nelson Covell and grandson, Rhett Robert Orin Covell
Bob is survived by loving wife, Anita Barton; daughters, Rebecca Covell, Terry Bennett and husband Todd, grandchildren, Lara Leigh Covell Tucker and husband Billy, Gage Bennett and wife Crystal, Taylor Bennett; great-grandchildren, Rhett Butterfield, Brooke Tucker, Will Tucker; beloved cousins, Shorty Huber, William Huber and their families.
The family will receive friends Thursday, April 20, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Services to follow at 12:30 pm. Bob will be laid to rest in the Forest Park East Cemetery. Pallbearers are Floyd Bennett, Todd Bennett, Billy Tucker, Rhett Butterfield, Shorty Huber, and Billy Huber. Honorary Pallbearers are Gage Bennett and Will Tucker.
