Richard Clifford Kloeris, age 96, of Pasadena, TX passed away on November 16, 2022. “Dick” as he was affectionately called, was born in St. Louis, Missouri on September 30, 1926 to Paul and Alice Gammeter Kloeris.
Raised in St. Louis, Dick graduated from Southwest High School. He worked for Western Electric and in 1944 resigned his job to enlist in the U.S. Navy where he served as a sonar operator on a troop ship in the Pacific. After the war he returned to St. Louis and enrolled in Washington University on the G.I. Bill where he obtained a double degree in geology and engineering. While in college he married Colleene Fremon, his first wife and mother of his two sons. His first professional job was with the U.S. Geological Survey where he produced topographical maps of several states. In 1952 he went to work as a geologist for Carter Oil which later became part of Humble Oil and Refining, the forerunner of ExxonMobil. Dick enjoyed a successful 30-year career finding oil. In retirement, he did some consulting work for Exxon, but mostly just enjoyed retirement life with his second wife Evelyn, traveling and spending time at their lake house.
Dick is preceded in death by his parents; brother Paul Kloeris, Jr.; sister Carol Kloeris; sister Virginia Holt; and, his wife Evelyn Kloeris.
His is survived by son Christopher Kloeris and significant other Lauri Tulloch of Georgetown, TX; son Steven Kloeris and wife Vickie Kloeris of Pearland, TX; brother-in-law, Thomas Holt of Jefferson City Missouri, and several nephews, nieces, great nephews and great nieces.
In Evelyn’s family, he is preceded in death by June McCain Friedmann and Alice McCain. Dick is survived by stepson Billy Ray McCain, six grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
The family wishes to express thanks to all the caregivers from Sheila’s Angels who provided such wonderful care for “Mr. Richard” as he was known to them. Those wishing to make a memorial donation should consider the Alzheimer’s Association, American Heart Association or a charity of choice.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 26, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. with a committal and reception to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
