Phyllis was born to Elmer and Evelyn Schott on April 4, 1938 in Osceola, Indiana.
She is survived by her loving husband Sidney Matchette, sister Jane Hamilton of Mishawaka, Indiana, daughter Paula Laskowski and husband Ken of South Bend, Indiana, and daughter Kathryn Douglass and husband Eric of Tucson, Arizona.
She is preceded in death by her son David Warner Matchette, sisters Mary Ellen Matchette, Patricia Kinder and Geraldine O’Bryant, and brothers, Don Harter, Dale Harter and Burry Harter.
Phyllis loved the grandchildren and was blessed with six grandchildren, Aaron, Lacey, Joshua, Jessica, Jared, and Jonathan; and five great grandchildren Alayna, Ella, Aiden, Landon, and Adalea.
Phyllis graduated from Mishawaka High School in 1956. During her junior and senior years, she served as a candy striper at St. Joseph Hospital. In 1956 she married Sidney (Sid) and they moved to Texas in 1969. She was employed as a PBX operator at Clear Lake Hospital and later Clear Creek ISD where she worked for many years.
She was a member of Lighthouse Fellowship and designed the flower arrangements weekly for Sunday service. Phyllis was also a very talented seamstress and took great pride in her crochet and needlepoint.
Phyllis will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery in Webster, Texas on Tuesday, January 30, 2023. Viewing will be at 1:00 pm with funeral services directly afterward. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the food pantry at Lighthouse Fellowship of Friends Church (925 3rd Street, League City, Texas).
Pallbearers are Aaron Matchette, Jared Laskowski, Joshua Matchette, Jon Corgey, Jordon Brooks, and Ken Laskowski.
