Paula Rose Kabello, 71, passed away on January 1, 2022 in Galveston, TX. Paula was born on October 26, 1950 in Raleigh, NC to the late William Sugg and Diane Kirchofer Howard, and grew up in Greensboro, NC.
Paula attended North Carolina State University from 1969-1974, where she earned her Bachelor's Degree in Liberal Arts. While attending college, she met and married her first love, Albert Bruce Rose, Jr. "Bruce", in 1973. After the wedding, Paula & Bruce settled into country life outside of Knightdale, NC, where they raised two sons, Alby & Roger. Paula was an avid gardener and lover of all animals; especially horses and Labrador Retrievers. She was known for her lavish gardens and flower beds, and won many blue ribbons for her homemade jams and jellies in the NC State Fair. Paula was truly "Mother Nature," personified.
Paula also had a strong passion for teaching and learning, and was known to "follow her boys" and become a teacher at the schools in which they were attending. She loved teaching science and math, and also had an eclectic collection of Native American arrowheads and pottery that she would share with her students. Paula & Bruce moved to Wendell, NC in 1995, where she continued to work in education in various roles, until her first husband's (Bruce) unexpected passing in 2000.
Fate shined on Paula, as she got a second chance to love once again. Paula married her second love, Peter Joe Kabello, in 2004 in Wendell. Paula & Pete enjoyed many fishing outings, and remained in the Wendell area until relocating to Fairhope, AL in 2010. Once in Fairhope, Paula & Pete enjoyed discovering the area for great fishing spots, great restaurants, while taking care of their fur babies that consisted of a dog and a few ferrets. Paula also was able to get back into teaching, and taught at multiple schools and districts in the area, while also assisting with Pete's art and carvings business.
As Paula's health started to decline, Paula & Pete moved to Texas in June 2020 to be closer to family and their grandchildren. Beautiful memories were made while in Texas, as she got to ride in a helicopter, ride in a Ferrari for her 70th birthday, and most importantly spend quality time with her loved ones. Paula passed peacefully with husband Pete, her son (Alby), and their fur baby (Daisy) by her side as the sun set on New Year's Day. Paula Rose Kabello lived a magnificent life, and was loved by all that she met or worked with. Simply put, there will never be another woman quite like her.
Paula was preceded in death by her father (Will Howard), first husband (Bruce Rose), mother (Diane Howard), brother (Bill Howard), and sister (Libby Buck). Paula is survived by her second husband Pete Kabello of Galveston, TX, sister Thea Gardner & husband Larry of Raleigh, NC, children Alby Rose & wife Heather of Friendswood, TX, and Roger Rose of Daytona Beach, FL, two grandchildren Mariah Rose & Bruce Rose, and one fur baby, Daisy.
