Nancy Malek

NanShella Jean “Nancy” Malek, 84, passed away on March 11, 2025. She was born in McCool, Mississippi on July 2, 1940, to Albert and Lura McGee. Nancy was the youngest of six children and grew up on a farm. Nancy graduated from Weir High School where she played guard on her high school basketball team. After high school, she worked for the County Tax Assessor.

In the 1960’s she moved to Houston to work with her sister Elsie at National Biscuit Company (NBC). In 1964, Nancy met her future husband Robert (Bobby) Malek Sr. Nancy and Bobby wed on April 30, 1965. Nancy and Bobby moved to the neighborhood of Park Place and had two sons: Robert Jr. And Philip.

During the time of the kids growing up, Nancy was often found as a room mother and PTA board member fixture at Park Place Elementary. Nancy later became a Teachers Aide at Milby High School for several years. Nancy and Bobby were long time members of Park Place Methodist Church and served in many different roles and volunteer positions during their tenure at the church.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Bobby, her parents Albert Sr. and Lura McGee, sisters Eleanor (husband Horace Curtis) Elsia (husband Billy Wilson Sr) Brothers James McGee and Albert McGee Jr.

Nancy is survived by her two sons Robert Jr. (wife Mitzi, daughters Margaux, Marixi Mae) Philip (wife Zabeth, son Dominic), her brother Jimmy McGee and numerous nieces and nephews.

Nancy enjoyed gardening, spending time with her grandkids, ceramics, and going to the “country” in Centerville Texas with the retirement property she and Bobby built after retirement. Most of all, Nancy was fond of Dr. Pepper and vanilla ice cream just about any time of the day. Nancy was also known for her famous Banana Pudding, biscuits and dressing at Thanksgiving.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, from 12:00 pm to 2:00 pm with a funeral start at 2:00 pm and a committal to follow. All services will be at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
