Matthew was born April 3, 2002, to his parents John and Brandy Pfister and spent the first years of his life growing up in Martinsville, Indiana. His life-long passion and love of trains began here at an early age. It was also at an early age that he became fascinated with classic cars and NASCAR racing, spending many days with his father cheering on his favorite driver #48 Jimmie Johnson. Matthew also enjoyed spending time with his mother cheering on the Indianapolis Colts. However, nothing was more important to him than his family, especially his sisters Kennedy and Elizabeth.
After his family moved to Texas in 2014, Matthew became involved in football and played in both middle school and for Alvin High School. While in high school, he received an Associate Degree from Alvin Community College. Matthew was very involved at Living Stones Church where he attended with his family. He helped at the youth camp and with the annual Christmas Train that is sponsored by the church. He also worked at the Home Depot in Alvin for two years. Upon graduating in May of this year, Matthew fulfilled a lifetime goal and was hired as a conductor for WATCO. He attended an intense training in Alabama and was at the top of his class upon graduation. Matthew worked for WATCO for the next 5 months until a tragic accident took him from us way too soon.
He is survived by his parents John and Brandy Pfister of Alvin, his two sisters Kennedy and Elizabeth, grandparents Ken and Karen Marcum of Friendswood (TX), Sheila and Earl Cooper of Indianapolis (IN), Fred and Pamela Pfister of Ft. Myers (FL), as well as 6 aunts, 4 uncles, and 9 cousins.
A viewing will be held at Living Stones Church on Friday November 5 from 11am-1pm. A Celebration Service remembering Matthew’s remarkable life will begin at 1pm.
Our lives will never be the same, but we are better for having held you in our lives for even such a short time.
