Martha lived most of her life in the Houston area, graduating from Lamar High School in 1955. She worked as a draftsman for Humble Oil until her marriage in 1958 to the love of her life, Ray Shearer. Together they traveled to California where they had two children, Ray McDonald (Don) and Debra Elizabeth (Debbie). Moving back to Texas in 1966, they raised their family in Clear Lake City – a then new community built for the growing space program.
Martha was involved in the community in many ways, including serving as President of the Ladies Auxiliary for the NASA Area Little League in its nascent years and as the owner of a local children’s clothing store, The Top Drawer. Martha brought a creative and fun flare to all that she did – from hosting themed events to writing poems for little leaguers – she always made time to make others know they were special to her. She will be missed.
Martha is survived by her daughter and son-in-law Debbie and Chip Court, granddaughters Kate and husband Clint Carton, Meg and fiancé Andy McDaniel and two great grandchildren Abby and Sam.
She was preceded in death by son, Don, parents, sister Mary Ann Banes, and brother Malory McDonald, Jr.
