Martha Gayle Anderson

Martha Gayle Anderson, 85, of Pearland, passed away on June 11, 2023. She was born in Baytown, Texas on March 14, 1938 to Barfield and Janice Nettles. She was married to Philip E. Anderson for 35 years before his death. Gayle had a career in teaching 1st grade for Pasadena ISD. She worked at Jessup (1 year), Freeman (3 years), and Stuchberry (28 years). She was a member of St. Stephens Presbyterian Church and had a passion for reading, musicals, softball, and anything her husband or daughter were involved in.

She was preceded in death by father Barfield Nettles; mother Janice Nettles; husband Philip Anderson; father-in-law Thomas C. Anderson; mother-in-law Gertrude Capshaw Anderson; brothers-in-law Tommy Aycock and Paul Stark; sisters-in-law Lyla Nettles and Patdicia Anderson.

She is survived by her daughter Phylis Laneigh Clark and husband James C. Clark; brother Barry D. Nettles; nephews Larry Nettles and wife Jenny, Barfield Nettles and wife Cindy, Michael Stark and wife Melissa, Ross Aycock and wife Deborah, Phil Aycock and wife Ginger; nieces Tanya Heeke and husband Verl, Cathy Lee, Nancy Anderson, and Lee Anderson; sisters-in-law Nancy Anderson and Patti Stark; brother-in-law Thomas C. Anderson; caregivers and friends Wendy Smith and Kim Rose; and other caregivers Donna Martinez, Lorena Tarango, Maria Rodriquez, Betty Lovato, and Lois Blackmon.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 21, 2023 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am. A funeral service will start at 11:00 am, a committal service and then a reception to follow. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, located at 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, Texas.
