Margarita “Margie” V. Aguirre, age 89, of Houston, passed away peacefully in her Houston home surrounded by loved ones on Wednesday, March 3, 2021, from heart and kidney conditions worsened by a recent battle over COVID-19. Everyone who knew Margie will miss her radiantly beautiful soul and will forever carry the deep void of her presence.
Margarita was born on June 11, 1931, in San Luis Potosí, Mexico. In her youth, Margie enjoyed working on the family farm and riding horses. In 1959, she wed Airmen Rudolph “Rudy” Aguirre. She immigrated to the United States of America, tenaciously taught herself English, and joined the hospitality industry as a hard-working member. Margarita fulfilled her lifelong dream of becoming an American citizen in 2018.
Margie will be remembered fondly for her elegant style, the way her eyes sparkled when she was cracking a cheeky joke, and how her smile beamed sunshine. She expressed her love through food, and her UT Health Science Center Founders Fun Fest Award-winning salsa was always a hit! Margie shared her love of bowling with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed quiet, simple pleasures like crocheting, playing Rummy, or tending her rose garden. Margarita’s greatest pride and joy was her family. She delighted in every minute spent with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
Margie’s very active retirement was devoted to volunteering with Cleveland-Ripley Neighborhood Center, UT House Medics, the City of Pasadena, and Pasadena Community Ministries. In 1960, Margie converted to Lutheran and at the center of her community service was Zion Lutheran Church of Pasadena, TX.
In Heaven, Margie reunites with her parents Abran and Leonarda Rodriguez, her sister Mercedes Corrie, her brother Domingo Rodriguez, her husband Rudolph Aguirre, and many friends.
Margarita leaves behind two loving children, Sandra Hernandez of Houston, TX and Mark Aguirre of Homberg-Efze, Germany; four grandchildren, Eryka Nematpour, wife of Captain Bryan Nematpour of Dothan, AL; Monica Hernandez of Houston, TX; Patrick and Eric Aguirre of Homberg-Efze, Germany; two grandchildren in her heart Jason Winters and his children of Dallas, TX and Natasha Winters and her children of Houston, TX; and three beloved great-grandchildren Evan, Emmett, and Tobias Nematpour of Dothan, AL. She is survived by her siblings, Simona Rodriguez, Maria Davila and Nicolas Rodriguez of Monterrey, Mexico, many extended family members, and friends.
A public viewing service will take place on Thursday, March 25, from 9 a.m. until her burial service at 1 p.m. at Forest Park East: 21620 Gulf Freeway in Webster, TX. Her memorial service will be held on Friday, March 26 at 1 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church: 5050 East Sam Houston Parkway South in Pasadena, TX.
