Louis Hernandez

Louis Hernandez, loving husband, father and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on September 12, 2017, surrounded by his loving family. Louis was born in Eagle Lake, TX on June 21, 1934. He lived most of his life in South Houston, TX where he and his wife of 42 years raised their family.

He worked for Marek Brothers for over 43 years, where he enjoyed a successful career until retiring in 1999. Louis was a faithful servant of the Lord and an active parishioner of St. Frances Cabrini in Houston, TX and served in the Ministries of Hospitality, the Men’s Club, and a member of the Knights of Columbus council no. 3700. Louis and his wife, Julia, were also the founding members of Our Lady of Grace Catholic Church in South Houston, TX. Louis was known for his kind, gentle spirit who never met a stranger. He had a very giving heart that brought joy and laughter to everyone he knew. He loved to play pranks and always had a comment or joke to share. He had many friends of all ages and enjoyed watching sports, and was an avid Astro’s and Texan’s fan. His family and friends will miss him deeply and will hold him close in their hearts forever.

Louis was preceded in death by his beloved wife Julia and his son Hector, and parents Sixto and Santos Razo.

He is survived by his loving children, daughters Belinda and husband Victor Diaz, Jennifer and husband Ernest Mendez, and son Christopher and wife Darlene Hernandez; grandchildren Angelica and Elizabeth Diaz, Jayme and Jonathan Mendez, and Juliet, Isabella, and Scarlett Hernandez; brothers Raymond, Joe, and Albert.

A visitation will be held at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church, 10727 Hartsook, Houston on Monday, September 18th at 5:30 pm followed by a vigil and rosary at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Frances on Tuesday, September 19th at 9:30 am, presided by Father Frank Fabj. Rite of Committal will be at Forest Park East Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, TX. Reception to follow the burial at St. Frances Cabrini, Houston, TX.
