Kathy was born to Norbert and Joye Hardaway on April 25, 1961. She was the oldest of four children with her siblings being Randy, Ronald, and Michelle.
Growing up Kathy was a happy child that always tried to be good to everyone and from an early age, Kathy embodied her parents’ strong work ethic. This tenacity for hard work is what led her to become a great student in school throughout her academic career. During this time, Kathy started her life-long career in the medical field at Bayshore hospital after school.
Kathy would end up meeting the love of her life, Tony Mistretta, early on while attending elementary school at Easthaven Baptist Church. Just as soon as she turned 18, Kathy and Tony would marry. The couple went on to have two children: Anthony, now 35 years old, and Amanda, now 34 years old. Kathy loved her children so dearly, but her grandchildren were her sunshine. To them, she was their Gigi, and she loved every minute of it.
When Kathy was not working, she enjoyed spending time with her family, and it usually revolved around cooking. She loved to cook for those she loved and was always excited to try new recipes. She also loved to read medical mystery novels, crochet, and collect all the purses.
Kathy’s beautiful soul was undoubtedly welcomed home by her husband Tony and brother Ronald; both of which preceded Kathy in death. She is survived by her son Anthony, his wife Erin, and their four children: Jaimie, Tony, Corbin, and Hensley, her daughter Amanda, her partner Daniel, and their son Aedyn. She is also survived by her father, Norbert Hardaway, her mother, Joye Hardaway, her brother Randy Hardaway, his daughter Lauren, and his wife Amy Hardaway, her sister Michelle Collins, and her husband Andrew Collins, and their three children Gareth, Maddie, and Hadyn.
Kathy Mistretta’s legacy of generosity and love will live on in all the hearts she touched during her time here on earth.
“My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever.” Psalm 73:26
