Juan Enriguez Sosa was a loving father, beloved grandfather, great-grandfather, great-great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and father-in-law. Juan E. Sosa passed away January 23, 2020 peacefully at his home at the age of 93 surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 6, 1926 in San Benito, Texas to Santana Sosa and Guadalupe Enriguez.
He began working at a Texaco station as a teenager before proudly serving in the armed forces as a US Naval Seabee for 2 years. He later became a staple for Fingers Furniture in the maintenance and facilities repair for 42 years.
Juan was a member of The Auto Club, AARP, American Cancer Society, Food for the Poor, National Federation of the Blind, American Action Fund for Blind Adults, and National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund among other various charitable organizations. In his free time, he loved to go fishing with his wife. He also enjoyed coin hunting and collecting knives. Juan was also considered a sharp shooter. His greatest achievement was being a loving and caring provider for his wife and children.
He was preceded in death by his wife Nicolasa P. Sosa and daughter Elizabeth Linda Sosa. Step Daughters Nicolas S. Burger, Lupe D. Shorey
Left to cherish Juan’s memory are his children Juanita S. Thomas and husband Richard D. Thomas and Mary Ann Sosa Maldonado. Grandchildren: Sabrina H. Lewis Vasquez, Juan R.D. Vasquez, Sonny S. Vasquez, Veronica Maldonado, Maria Maldonado, Prisco Maldonado Jr., Andres Maldonado, Heather Carrera, Larry Burger, Willie Burger, Robert Burger, Joseph Burger, and Nanette Burger.
Great-grandchildren: Rudy Vara, Eric Vara, Christopher Vara, Matthew Vasquez, Avvori Vasquez, Serenity Vasquez, Serena Vasquez, Silas Vasquez, Alicia Juarez, Monica Juarez, Maria Mandujano, Mia Mandujano, Adriana Maldonado.
Great-great-grandchildren: Isebella Vara, Emery Vara, Isael Maldonado, Aryanna Maldonado, Andrew Maldanado, Jr. Reyna Vara, Christopher Vara Jr., Mariah Carrera, Jaydren Rodriguez, Leslie Luis, and Christopher Luis.
He also leaves behind sisters Simona Sifuentes and Anita S. Gomez, brother Santana Sosa, and numerous friends, nieces, and nephews.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, January 28 from 2:00-6:00PM in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home located at 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas. A Celebration of Juan’s life will be held Wednesday, January 29 at 2:00PM at Forest Park East. Immediately following he will be laid to rest at Forest Park East Cemetery.
The family would like to graciously thank Genus Patris Hospice for the care and attention given to Juan, especially Sherrita, Eunice, and Lina.
