Joseph Patrick Fleming was born March 16, 2006, and was welcomed home into his Heavenly Father’s arms on October 30, 2016. Joseph Fleming battled cancer courageously with family, teammates, and community by his side.
At a very young age Joseph developed a love for the game of baseball. Joseph Fleming started his career with League City Little League where he was a part of several championship teams. He was a member of 2013 and 2015 League City Little League All Star Team, and helped lead them to a District Championship. He was also a member of the Texas Blue Chips, where he began to flourish even more. Joseph Fleming would play any position on the baseball field however his love for pitching was very evident. On the pitcher’s mound is where he developed the nickname “DIRTY CHANGE”. He was an avid Houston Astros fan, and had the opportunity to become friends with Astros pitcher Lance McCullers, and struck out Houston Astros All Star second baseman Jose Altuve.
Joseph Fleming was a loyal friend who always could be seen with a smile on his face. In his presence, there was always laughter, silliness, and love. While some may have thought Joseph’s special calling was the game of baseball, he showed us that his purpose was far greater; he united an entire community and has left us all with a desire to live more like Joseph, put others first, laugh at yourself, and let your smile be contagious.
Joseph is survived by his devoted mother, Kellie Lynn Price. His father, Jon Paul Fleming; his step-father, Jeremiah Price; his maternal grandparents, Tom Haydon “Grandpa” and Sandra Haydon “Grandma”; his paternal grandparents and Joseph’s namesake, Joseph Patrick Fleming “Big Joe” and Winnie Blair Fleming “Nana”; sisters, Kailyn Fleming and Avery Fleming; brother, Drake Price; Aunt Julia Fleming “Aunt Ju Ju”, Uncle Jason Thornhill and Uncle James Haydon. Joseph’s family’s steadfast love and support was unwavering throughout his life and right up until the end.
