Jeff Ervin Wainwright of Belton, Texas, joined our heavenly Father on December 18, 2020. Jeff was born at home in Rapids, Louisiana to Lazarus Newman Wainwright and Lena Ada Tarver Wainwright. He graduated high school with honors from Buckeye High School in Buckeye, Louisiana in 1944.
Preceding him in death, was the love of his life of 67 years, his wife, Dorothy Jean Miller Wainwright. Also preceding him in death was his parents, sisters, Vera Specht, Thelma McKeithen, Janie Bell Franks, Verna Shea.
Jeff is survived by his sisters, Mary Brashear and Mayrene Roszell, brother Newman Lazarus Wainwright, Jr., Daughters, Patricia Ann and husband Wayne Heinze, Karen Jean Curry, Sherry Lynn and husband Keith Carwile as well as grandchildren, David and wife Maria Heinze, Lauren Heinze, Heather and husband Mark Mills, Dee and husband Chris Repka, Alan Curry, Michael Carwile and wife Lynne, Victoria Carwile and Rebecca Carwile. Great Grandchildren, David Gerard, Stephanie and husband Matthew Huckabee, Sean Gerard, Brendan Mills, Dylon Mills, Elizabeth Mills, Laurel Repka, Emalee Repka, Gracelyn Repka, Caden Carwile, Jackson Carwile, Lila Carwile and many nieces and nephews.
Jeff served in the U.S. Army from October 24, 1944 to November 19, 1946, then active reserves until September 29,1949. He was in the capacity of Battery C, 317th Field Artillery Battalion. He took part in the Liberation of Southern Philippines, multiple Pacific Islands and occupation of Japan. His military decorations and citations include, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Ribbon with Bronze Star, Philippine Liberation Ribbon with Bronze Star, Good Conduct Medal, Army Occupation Medal of Japan, Japan Victory Ribbon, and 2 overseas service bars. He was Honorably Discharged in November 1946.
Coming home after the war, he married is love, Dorothy on February 11, 1951 and were married until Dorothy’s death in September of 2017. He received a Certificate of Completion in Automobile Mechanics from the Alexandria Trade School, June, 1949. He moved his family to Texas in 1954 and worked for Phillips Petroleum, then on to work for Simplex Time Recorder Company rebuilding, repairing, and installing clocks until his retirement in 1989. He had a life-long passion of gardening, woodworking, carving of ducks, birds, and flowers and building grandfather/wall clocks.
