In 1955, she whistled at a handsome young man wearing a bright yellow shirt. She did not know Bud (Willard Lamar Steele) would one day become her husband, the father of her children and the only man she would ever love. Bud and Janice would spend the next 49 years going to places they never dreamed of.
They were blessed with two children, Vicki and Jeff, a son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Ken and Dawn, and six grandsons, Corbin, Colter, Kyle, Cody, Joshua, and Cameron. More than anything else, Janice loved her family. She was always happiest when surrounded by her grandsons.
As a young child, and since she was the preacher’s daughter, she sang in the church choir with her older siblings. She loved singing - in the car, the mall, anywhere really but especially in the church choir. Over the last few years she sang in the La Marque First United Methodist Church choir and was so happy and honored when she was asked to sing solos on several occasions.
Janice also had a passion for all things creative. She loved painting, jewelry making, and cooking. One of the highlights of her week was attending art class at the College of the Mainland Senior Center.
Janice has gone to be with Bud and wrap her loving arms around her grandson Cody for the first time. Visitation will be at 2:00 pm on Friday, March 23, 2018 with Services to follow at 3:00 pm at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. Interment to follow at Forest Park East Cemetery, Webster, Texas.
