James Medina, 51, of Deer Park, TX passed away Tuesday May 19th 2015. He was born in Houston on March 22, 1964 to parents Emilio and Dolores Medina. James graduated from South Houston High School. While in school he was known among his friends for his carefree attitude and his charming smile. One friend recalls a time years after school when he ran into James at an Astros game. He says that he heard someone yelling his name and looked up to see James and his unmistakable smile. James then ran over to him and gave him a big ol’ neck hug. It’s moments like these that truly embody who James was as a person. He married Terri Knight Medina on August 30th 1986. James and Terri met in high school, where he was known as the studly jock and Terri was the radical misfit. In this case, opposites do attract and they have been together ever since. After he completed his education, James began his career at Oxy Vinyl where he worked for 27 years. At his work, James was known for his lighthearted humor, intelligence, and drive for constant knowledge. Early in his career James was promoted to Head Operator which pushed him to work even harder. To many people James was the hardest working person they knew. If James was not at work, he would be found reading, exercising, or spending time with his wife and children. He is survived by his wife Terri as well as his children Jacob, Cassie, Marissa, and Tyler. In addition he will be missed by his grandchildren Alexis and Ember, his mother Dolores, and his sister Hope. James was also survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, all who will miss him terribly. For his family, his affection will be missed on a daily basis. A kiss on the cheek or a squeeze of the hand. All the little things that said, “I love you”. A quote from one of James’ favorite movies, Blade Runner, “The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long. And you have burned so very, very brightly”. All services will be held at Forest Park East Funeral home. Address: 21620 gulf freeway, Webster, TX 77598. Visitation will be on Tuesday, May 26th from 5pm to 8pm. The funeral will be on Wednesday, May 27th at 3pm. The service will be held in their chapel. The burial will follow the services on the same property, a short walk away.
