Jim was preceded in death by his parents, James Albert and Mary Ruth Perkins Acton, as well as his sister, Carolyn Acton Clute.
He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Ruth “Betti” Acton (née Tolin) of Lake Charles, Louisiana; his three children, James Earl “Duke” Acton, Elizabeth Ashley Acton Jimenez, and Shannon Diane Acton Chambliss and her husband, Jerod Robert Chambliss; his six grandchildren; and his sister, Jan Acton Wingo.
Jim was born on July 30, 1949, in Pasadena, Texas, and was a graduate of Sam Rayburn High School. He attended Baylor University and proudly served in the Civil Air Patrol. He loved to travel and especially enjoyed cross-country family road trips to experience America’s marvels first-hand.
A photographer at heart and by trade, Jim preserved countless precious lifetime memories for many. He was also a Mr-Fix-It of all kinds, from car repairs and home improvements to skinned knees and broken hearts. He rarely met a stranger along his way, whilst earning a reputation of giving tirelessly of himself to help anyone in need.
His impact on his family, friends, and all who knew him is his greatest legacy – second only to his love of life and the people in it.
The world has lost a very good man.
