Jackie was born to Samuel Ruskin Balis and Gladys Trager Balis on March 19, 1942, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She graduated from Northeast High School in 1960 and attended Penn State University. She married W. Parks Davis in 1967. They lived together in Clear Lake City, Texas, where they raised two children.
She is survived by her son Ian Davis and wife Paige Davis of Red Oak, TX, son Matthew Davis and wife Lisa Davis of Friendswood, TX, her grandchildren, Drew Davis, Maddie Davis, Ellie Davis, and Dillon Davis, and sister Elaine Tilney and husband Lou Tilney of Wynnewood, PA.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Parks Davis, her father, Samuel Balis, her mother, Gladys Balis, and her brothers-in-law, Roger Serota and Dennis Sanford.
As a young adult, Jackie worked as a camp counselor at her parent’s camp in the Pocono mountains. After college, she worked as a medical technician at a hospital in Philadelphia. She volunteered and worked at Clear Lake Intermediate School when her boys had grown up. Jackie adored family and valued being a mom (and Mimi/Grandma). Her love extended beyond her own children and grandchildren. She was considered a second Mom to many and was always there to lend an ear, provide a meal, or offer transportation at any hour. Jackie was a talented artist who loved to draw and paint her entire life. In addition, she had a green thumb and was an experienced gardener. She enjoyed the outdoors and loved all animals. Jackie and Parks were also accomplished breeders of English Mastiffs. Jackie was a proud military wife and was active in American Legion Post 490, where she was a member of the Women’s Auxiliary. Jackie was a beautiful, kind soul and was loved by many.
