Jack Weldon Harris, the youngest son of A. W. Harris and Sally Harris, was born January 4, 1929 in Dallas, Texas. His parents realized that he was different than their other four children and were totally committed to giving Jack every opportunity to succeed in his pursuit of music. Jack received a music degree from Boston University in 1951. He played a solo concert in New York City attended by a full crowd along with his parents and siblings. Then Jack went on to serve his country in the US Air Force from 1951-1955, playing in the Air Force Band during the Korean War. He enjoyed music for his entire life and played the piano for friends, family and his church. He was very involved and loved the Houston Symphony and Opera and his sports teams. Jack had a career in Petrochemical sales for Eastern State, Signal Oil Co. and retired from Charter Oil Co. in 1985. He was a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, American Legion, Masonic Lodge, and an Elder at Faith Community Church. He married the love of his life Roberta (Bobbie) Oswald on June 24, 1966. They had little interest in material things, but were passionate about charitable causes. He will be remembered as truly special and one of a kind. He is survived by his Wife, Bobbie and many loving nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held at Forest Park East from 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 18, 2015. His celebration of life will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park East with an interment to follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.
