Hubert Joseph Briley

Memorial Service for Hubert Joseph Briley will be held on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in the Sibille Funeral Home Chapel. Rite of Committal and Interment of Ashes will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Father James Brady will officiate the service.

Mr. Briley was most recently a resident of Pearland, Texas. He died on Tuesday, January 5, 2016 at Colonial Oaks Assisted Living, at the age of 86. Born in Opelousas, he and his family lived in Lafayette and New Orleans before moving to Monroe in 1960. He worked as an engineer for South Central Bell until retiring in 1989, at which time he returned to Lafayette. Mr. Briley was a 1952 graduate of LSU with degrees in accounting and forestry.

He is survived by his children, Randall James Briley of Nashville, TN; Kathy Briley Traylor and husband, Mel, of Friendswood, TX; and Glenn Patrick Briley and wife, Wendy, of Raleigh, NC. Mr. Briley's surviving grandchildren are Zachary, Jacob, and Matthew Traylor of Friendswood, TX and Beth and Emily Briley of Raleigh, NC. His brothers J.D., Nolin, and Louis Briley also survive him.

His wife, Versy Taylor Briley, and his parents, Joseph Douglas and Amelia Briley, preceded him in death.

Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home on Saturday, March 19, 2016 beginning at 9:00 a.m. until time of service at 11:00 a.m. Words of comfort to the family may be expressed at www.sibellefuneralhomes.com.
