     I remember one of the first times I shared a one-on-one visit with Andy, and I would classify this as a most unusual event.  Briefly, I had gotten a call from our church, Bay Harbour Methodist, that Andy was taken via ambulance to a local hospital, a possible cardiac event had occurred.
     Immediately, I drove to the ER at one of the local hospitals (there are many in our area) where I was told Andy was transported.
     I entered the ER area and I asked "the desk" where I can find "Andy" Anderson.  The spokesperson said, "We do not have a Andy Anderson admitted."  She continued, "Are you a family member?"  I said, "No, I am from the Church and I received a call that Andy was brought here."  She continued, "Well, we have an Anderson, but his name is not Andy.  Do you have a first name?"  
     Frustrated, I got to the point, "Mam, how many men do you have back there in the ER that is bald-headed, in his mid 90's, and was brought in here in the past hour complaining of chest pain?"  She led me to Andy's bedside immediately.
     It was from this one-on-one sharing that day at his bedside, and praying with him, that our friendship began.
     Andy would call my cell phone frequently during Astros games with comments like, "Hey, did you see that last play?"  Then we would visit about that "last play".  Or, just about every time Jose Altuve would hit a homerun, I'd get "the call" from Andy, with, "Will those pitchers ever learn you can't throw fastballs past him!"
Andy kept me updated with all the "Astros rumors", and all the potential trades upcoming, and the Astros minor league rosters.
    I had coached college baseball for 25 years, directed baseball academies and baseball schools throughout the upper Midwest, and I was satisfied I was on the "cutting edge" of baseball technology - but when Andy talked, I never interrupted, and was always enthused to learn of "Andy's Angle".  It was right on!
   
   

Andy was a wonderful Christian man and an inspiration to many.

To my amazing Dad-

What a gift you were to so many people!   Not only were you a wonderful husband and father, but you truly touched the lives of everyone who met you.  I will treasure the countless heartfelt moments that you and I shared.  You taught me how to be a confident, strong woman, yet humble at the same time.  I will miss your goofy sense of humor, your smile that lit up every room, and your laughter.  You gave me the best of you and I will live the remainder of my life emulating your’s.  You will ALWAYS be in my heart.  I love you.  


My dad moved back to this area 9 yrs ago to be closer to family . He was my best friend  until his passing . Will leave a large hole in my family’s life but I know he is with my mom and oldest sister in heaven . Love you forever daddy . 


My Dad was the epitome of a loving, kind, Christian husband & father.  He taught his 4 daughters by example to always respect others, empathize & help anyone in need,  and believe in ourselves. When I was very young, he gave into my constant begging for a horse.  We proceeded to train my yearling colt together. He willingly hauled us to various horse shows & 4-H meetings.  While visiting him this past November, we recalled how much fun that had been.  And he commented “We did a helluva job training that horse, he turned out great”  I reminded him how most afternoons I would jump on my horse, ride a mile towards town & meet him at a stop sign as he drove home from work.  Then I would race him home — he always let me win.  In my adult years he taught me how to stand on my own 2 feet & never give up on my dreams. He told me to never lose my smile & always laugh at least once a day (which I do).  He was my eternal rock & every morning I will look up & smile at him with my Mom in Heaven. 

I am very proud to have called Harold Anderson ( although we always just called him Andy) a friend and mentor. He was an honest, God fearing man. He would help anyone who needed it. During WWII, he was a hero for saving a fellow soldiers life. He accepted me as part of his family. He and I had a lot of fun times. He was always up for going to the lake for fishing, or as he used to say, for catching! He taught me how to fish and also taught my kids. Wow, he really had a lot of patience. He was a great man, a great husband, father and father in law. I am very lucky to have known him and to have learned from him. I couldn't have asked for a better friend.He will certainly be missed. RIP Andy
