Floyd Williams, 90, of Houston, passed away on April 19, 2017. He was born in Arnett, TX on August 19, 1926 to Robert and Mattie Williams. He was married to Margie Pollock for 15 years and had a career in law enforcement his entire life for HPD, Chief of Gatesville PD and Chief of Hamilton PD. Floyd was a member of the Rotary Club of Gatesville, Lions Club, and Founder of the Gatesville Exchange Club. He had a passion for wood work and home construction, building a complete house at the age of 65.
He was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mattie Williams; sister Ruby; brothers Jim, Bailey and Lloyd; son Rickie; daughter Judy Kay; grandson Andy Williams; and lifelong friend Johnny Neeley.
Floyd is survived by his wife Margie Pollock; sons Scott Williams and wife Tammi Williams, Clayton Williams and wife Yvonne Williams and John David Rook and wife Joy Rook; along with numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
There are three generations in law enforcement that will continue Floyd’s legacy and devotion. Scott Williams is a Detective for Harris County Sherriff’s Department, Clayton Williams is a Detective for City of Waco, John David worked for the State of Texas and Rickie was a Lt. for the Harris County Sherriff’s Department. Granddaughter, Whitney Sowders is a Police Officer with Waco PD and several other grandchildren plan to follow in their grandfather’s footsteps.
Visitation will be held on Monday, April 24, 2017 at 11:30 a.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home with funeral service to follow at 12:30 p.m. and interment in Forest Park East Cemetery.
