She was born in Tallmadge, Ohio to Lawrence and Nellie Fauley April 2, 1931. She grew up in Tallmadge, where she met and married Lawrence Petty in 1951, where they lived and worked in Ohio until the Manned Spacecraft Center was formed in Texas. They purchased a house in Pasadena, Texas in 1963, where they raised two boys and lived for the remainder of their lives.
Ethel was a member of Mu Alpha sorority and frequently volunteered for various organizations and was always eager to help others. She worked as a branch manager for several savings and loans, and she worked her way up to become the area manager for Houston First American Savings in downtown Houston where her kindness and skills in diplomacy were major assets.
Ethel Petty a loving wife and mother was preceded in death by her husband Lawrence Petty and son Donald Petty, and is survived by her son Brian Petty, nephews Douglas Fauley, Jeffery Fauley, Jody Fauley, Kevin Fauley, Joel Petty, and Jay Petty, along with nieces Brenda Boykin, Judy Frye, Pamela Petty, and Melissa Smith.
A visitation for Ethel will be held Friday, April 19, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A celebration of life service will occur Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A committal service will occur Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 11:30 AM to 12:00 PM at Forest Park East Funeral Home & Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
