Elsie Moore, lovingly called “Blossom” by her husband, Robert, was born in Houston, Texas on October 16th, 1929 and passed away at home, in Deer Park, Texas. She went to be with the Lord on May 29th, 2014 after a lengthy battle with Alzheimer.
She was born to James Glen and Corrine Elsie Parrish. Elsie is survived by the love of her life, and husband of 65 years, Robert Moore, her children: Robbie and wife Susan, James and wife Joyce, and Floyd and wife Twyla, 11 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren, a sister Dora Crenshaw, many nieces, nephews, cousins and numerous other family members.
Elsie is preceded in death by her parents, Glen and Corrine Elsie Parrish, step-father Eddy Carlson, in-laws Johnny and Golda Moore, grandson Benjamin Moore, sister, Nina Perkins, and brother Floyd Parrish.
Elsie had many passions. Some included travel, exercise, and the outdoors. She loved to out fish Robert. She hiked and back-packed in the Colorado mountains. She ran with her buddies and led exercise classes at the church. Elsie was involved in the community by driving a school bus and working at the election polls. Elsie Marie was a wonderful cook and she would cook special dishes for friends and family.
Elsie was a faithful servant at Deer Park First Baptist Church where she had been a member since the early 1950's. For 42 years, she worked as a Sunday School teacher and director for elementary aged children. Her many years of service included singing in the choir, pageants, Lay Renewals, hair and nail ministry at San Jacinto Manor, Vacation Bible School at First Baptist and Rose of Sharon, leader of the kitchen team for Wednesday night meals, chair of the Hospitality Committee and the Wedding Closet. She arranged flowers and hosted many showers for numerous friends and family members.
Elsie was called Wife, Momma, Memaw, Sister and Aunt by many but, her favorite was the name her husband called her: “Blossom”. She will be dearly missed by family, church members and the community of Deer Park.
The funeral will be held at Deer Park First Baptist Church on June 2nd at 10:00 a.m. The visitation will be Monday evening at 5:00-8:00 at Deer Park First Baptist Church. The interment is Tuesday, following the funeral service, at Forest Park East.
In lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the "Building Fund at 1st Baptist Church of Deer Park"
