Ed Rychcik of Friendswood, Texas passed away on Sunday, June 23, 2019 at the age of 65. Ed was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Ed was preceded in death by his father Edward Rychcik and his brother Kevin Rychcik
Ed is survived by his mother Millie Rychcik, sister Kathie (Larry) Fenn, sister Judi (Jack) Schanck, brother Bob (Amy) Rychcik, sister Janet (Donald) Pfund, and sister- in-law Dara Winn Rychcik. He also blessed the lives of 10 nieces and nephew and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Ed was adventurous and fun loving. He loved many sports skiing, dirt bikes, water sports, scuba diving, fishing, but his true love was photography! He worked with digital photography extensively and was never without his camera. Family and anyone that ever met him will miss his quick wit and sense of humor.
Ed then joined HL&P in 1978 initially as a helper. However, during his career he worked his way up through the ranks as an apprentice, journeyman, head mechanic, and crew leader before becoming a Turbine Specialist in the Steam Turbine group. He worked years with both brothers in different capacities at HL&P and NRG. Ed retired in 2004 and became an independent contractor. Ed had a great connection with everyone at the different plants and will be missed by all who worked with him.
He was great humanitarian, son, brother, uncle, and friend!
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held Wednesday, June 26 at 3:00PM in the Chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home located at 21620 Gulf Freeway Webster, Texas. In honor of Ed’s life casual attire is welcomed.
