To Bobby and all the Rychcik family,

So sorry to hear of Eddie's passing. We have a lot of good memories of growing up in Brookline with you.

I didn't know Eddie that well, but Lauren & I wanted to pay our respects while supporting Janet, Donald & the Rychcik family at the service.  I do remember spending a wonderful afternoon in & around that pool at the old house & Eddie being a gracious host.  As I left the service I realized a special kinship to Ed.  Through the photos & stories it occurred to me that Eddie & I had much in common.  Though I grew up in southern middle Tennessee the photos suggested we had many similarities in our childhood & teen years.  Similar to Eddie I have 5 siblings, came from strong & well meaning parents, spent most of my early years in the outdoors with friends, brothers & sisters exploring everything freedom had to offer.  I saw in Eddie & his family a slice of Americana at least from the perspective of my generation.  During my teens & through my twenties I almost always had a camera nearby & spent every free moment in the outback hiking, camping, canoeing, kayaking, climbing mountains, fishing & hunting.  If Eddie & my path's had crossed back then I think there's a good chance we would have struck up a friendship because of all we had in common.  I believe it was Jack that so eloquently stated that none of us could feel what the immediate family members must be going through at this time, so true.  I think Bob said during the service that we would always have those precious memories of Eddie.  To Millie & the family, you can & will lean on each other during these trying times, but know there is obvious love & strength that will get you through these difficult times.  Melodie & I keep you in our thoughts & prayers.  God Bless Eddie.

Ed, wow, where do you start.  I had the pleasure of working with all three brothers at NRG.  I enjoyed every minute of it, but Ed he was my stick man.   The time I spent with Ed was priceless.  He was a person that just lived free.  So free you couldn’t help but to be drawn to him.  The stories that run through my mind as I think of him make me laugh and cry all at the same time.  He used to say, “Missy I am not here for a long time, but I am here for a good time!”  So l just wanted Bob and the Rychcik family to know , that I am thankful for the gift of Ed and Kevin they shared with me.  So I’ll say to Ed, one more time, “stay safe till I see you again  my friend!”

I was so surprised and heartbroken to hear of Eddie's passing, particularly so close to the tragedy of losing Kevin. It's been many years since your branch of the Rychcik clan moved from the home base in Pittsburgh, but my sister Jean and I often talk about each of you. God bless Carl & Natalie for keeping in close touch. I hope you all can find solace in your happy memories of Eddie. My memories are from your early days in Brookline; I treasure them. Please know that the rest of us Rychciks are always with you in spirit.

I am deeply saddened by hearing of Ed's passing. I had the pleasure of working with Ed a number of times and was impressed by his knowledge and his wit. My sympathy goes out to the Rychcik family. He will truly be missed.

Kathie and family,  I am so sorry for the loss of your brother. We have never met, but Larry is one of my oldest friends. God bless you all during this difficult time. Love, hugs, and prayers for all of you.

Many things come to mind for me of my brother Ed but lately I spent my time helping him  dealing with his illness. I have wonderful memories of our childhood and adolescence.  He was like a big brother to me even though he was younger than me.  I remember him coming to my confirmation party with snakes in his tucked in shirt and he was so happy laughing the whole time! I remember Ed telling scary stories in the tent of the double bunks! He loved scary bloody  stuff!  He became the patriarch of our family at an early age and wanted all his siblings kept safe!  Family was everything to him all the way to the end!  He would do anything for family! Ed will be missed by all that have known him because he could interact with people on the same level. He never put himself above anyone else!   He was the most fair person I have ever met! The fact that alcoholism was something he could not beat still brings sadness and breaks my heart.   I loved him dearly and don’t know how life will go on without him but it will and every day I will think of him and miss him. Love to you Ed. 

Ed, Kevin and Bob were three of the finest people I worked with at  the Light Company. It's hard to believe that two of them are gone.



A good man and a good friend from a great family.  Rest In Peace, Eddie. Our prayers and condolences to the entire Rychcik family.

The Rychcik’s have been involved with HL&P-NRG since I’ve been in the industry.  I’ve had the pleasure of working with all three...it’s a very sad day in the turbine repair industry.  First Kevin and now Ed...

Thoughts and prayers go out to all of the Rychcik family...nothing but first class team players.  RIP Ed you were a pleasure to be around and a wealth of knowledge.


Ed and me used to travel a great deal to different plants and in particular was in Casa Grand Arizona, we got the weekend off and he told me we were going to the Indian Rodeo, wasn’t sure if that was appealing to me but I agreed and we went that Saturday. I often bring this up in my travel stories because it turned out to be one of the best events I ever witnessed, Ed took so many pictures and we both just took in the moment, and I got to do it with my best friend, he knew so much about culture and he taught me to appreciate them all, what a great brother, I miss him with all my heart. 

I remember growing up with Ed - my "other" little brother -  and his siblings when we lived in a duplex  in Pittsburgh.  Those were  happy days, and i cried when our families moved to separate houses.
  After he moved to Texas we didn't have much contact, but when i last saw him at a family wedding he was still the handsome, affectionate, funny cousin i remembered. Over the years I  often heard stories of his generosity and kindness . And here's the memory that still brings tears: after my mom died i came home one day to find a sweet, loving,  message of comfort on my answering machine from Ed. I kept that message for years, until some gremlin made it disappear.  I still think of it often and always will.
I'll never forget you, Ed. God bless you! Love you always.

This is such sad new for us.  Ed was my husbands best friend for as long as I’ve known him.  Ed was very good at keeping in touch. They would talk for hours.  Secrets I’m sure I’ll never know about.  Ed was soft spoken and so very kind and generous. We are heartbroken and send much love to our Rychcik family.   Much love Tom and Mary Walsh 

Please know that in your time of grief, you are not alone. Our fond memories of Ed will provide a source of strength as he continues on his journey.

I meet Ed when I was 15 years old, my first job, we were bus boys/ dishwashers together at the Village Dairy in Brookline, Pa. The stories I could tell of those times together brings a smile to my face and a tear to my eye because we laughed together until we cried.
We became family when my brother married his sister, but the bond was already there.
As life took us in different directions and places, there were years that passed where we seldom spoke, but with the bond of true friendship, we always picked up as if time stood still. I will miss your quick wit, your wonderful laugh, our phone conversations and the warmth of your kindness.

My wife speaks fondly of the Rychcik family, particularly of Ed. Ed and Janet were one of the first to make my wife part of "the family"when she first moved to Houston. After we were married, I too was invited to share with this great family. To Millie, Bobby, Kathy, Judy, and Janet, and other family members. Please know that Laurie and I are better people for having known Ed. We share your grief, but know that he would not want us to be sad. Prayers,
