A native Houstonian, he was born January 12, 1944 to Earl Paul and Alice Ruth Cooper. He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Deborah McMurtry. He is survived by Dodie, his loving wife of 46 years; sons; Lee Cooper, Tim Cooper, and grandson; Joshua Kramer. He also leaves behind sisters; Pennye Lowery, (Glen), Rhonda Cooley (Meloy), brothers; Curtis Cooper, Mason Cooper and half-brother Earl Wayne Cooper, loving nieces, nephews, and many friends who were blessed to know him.
Earl was an entrepreneur having several business ventures in Louisiana and Texas. He enjoyed the day to day interaction with his customers, and had many friends in the petro chemical industry. He always had a joke or story to tell as he started each day with a phone call to a business associate.
Earl retired in 2011 from Anthis Industries Inc. He and Dodie were able to travel before he became ill. They visited many historical sights and museums in their motorhome. He always said Dodie was his program director; although at the age of 16, he accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior, which was the most important reservation of his life. Earl truly had a grand reservation.
For many years, Earl was a member of Heritage Baptist Church in Missouri City, Texas, where he taught Sunday school and chaired the Missions Committee. Most recently he was a member of Creekmont Baptist Church in La Porte, Texas. He was a friend to ABA missionaries, supporting them through his local church. Earl was a man of faith with a servant’s heart.
The family would like to thank Heart to Heart Hospice for their compassion and care of Earl during his illness.
The family will receive friends Thursday, November 6, 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home in Webster, Texas. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 7, 2014 at 12:30 p.m. in the chapel of Forest Park East Funeral Home with the interment to follow in Forest Park East Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Earl’s name may be made to the Mission Fund of Creekmont Baptist Church, P.O. Box 506, La Porte, TX 77571.
