Dorothy “Dot” Carroll Sills, born June 4, 1926 in Groesbeck, Texas, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 at the age of 85 following an extended battle with Alzheimer’s. Dorothy was a loving and selfless wife and mother, who had faithfully and tirelessly devoted herself to the support and Christian growth of her family. She loved to travel on family vacations, played a fierce game of Texas 42, and retained a remarkable mind for numbers and tax calculations until her disease took its toll. Now absent from the body, we rejoice that her spirit is miraculously reunited in Heaven with that of M.P. - her lifetime husband and valentine.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband M.P. Sills; her sister Jeannette Welch; and her parents Jim Carroll and Lillie Mae Gammon. She is survived by her two sisters, Juanita Broker and Winnie Jefferson; her brother James Ainsworth and wife Mary; her three children, Gary Sills and wife Sandy, David Sills and wife Tammy, and Karyn Jackson-Stephens and husband Scott; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Monday, February 20 at 11:30 A.M. at Forest Park East, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas, with the funeral service to follow immediately at 12:30 P.M., officiated by Pastor Gary Sills. Dot’s body will be laid to rest alongside that of her beloved husband at the Forest Park East cemetery. Pallbearers include Gary Sills, David Sills, Greg Sills, Joshua Sills, Scott Stephens and Christian Walter.
Family and friends will gather afterward at the College View Baptist Church in Texas City.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Association, 2242 West Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas, 77030.
