23 years ago I met Dorothy, after our first conversation I knew we made a connection.  She welcomed me w/open arms. 13 years ago Jaime & I were thinking of moving to another home, Dorothy lived in a retirement home in Alvin and I suggested that she move in with us, when I told her she had tears in her eyes, she was overjoyed and said she would love to. Our 13 years together began. I was amazed by her knowledge on any subject, including sports. She was like a personal secretary to me, she would research game times and channels of all the sports teams & would print it for me. And, she would always ask me if the Texans, Astros or Rockets were winning, she was interested because she knew I was. We discussed the history of Houston, and Houston's sports teams on many occasions, including the Houston Oilers standing in the kitchen while I was cooking dinner. Dorothy never complained about anything she did for me. Almost every Friday night we would have Chinese take-out which was her treat to us. She enjoyed eating the new recipes that we tried out together, and she would always come to the kitchen even when she could barely walk. I called her daily to check on the dogs or ask her what the weather was doing, even though I was actually calling checking on her.  Dorothy was always concerned about Brad, Nina, Nina's twin boys, my brothers and their families, and my co-workers.  She always made a point to ask how everyone was doing and what they were up to lately. There is a void in our household and our daily routine after sharing our home with her for 13 years. She is greatly missed, her memory will live on in our hearts forever. Love, Your Son-in-Law Donny Thomason

Dorothy was a beloved cousin and friend. She triumphed over all obstacles and was an inspiration to all of us who knew and loved her.

My love of music, reading and researching information on the internet was handed down to me from my Mother. My Mother enjoyed music, musicals, plays and going to concerts and movies. When my sister and I were young my Mother took us to see Sonny & Cher with the opening act & unknown at the time Neil Diamond at the Sam Houston Coliseum.  She also took us to see Elvis at the Houston Livestock Show & Rodeo. As a teenager when I came out of my bedroom in full Alice Cooper makeup she said "GET THE CAMERA!!". She always encouraged me, never judgmental. I was always amazed by her intelligence and her worldly knowledge, if I ever needed to know "anything" on any "subject" in a pinch, I would ask Moma.  My Mother & my husband worked on numerous craft projects together in which they both enjoyed and worked many hours together to make sure the project came together to both their (high) expectations. They would then stand back in amazement & commenting on how that project out-did the last! My ONLY comfort in her passing is that she is with her beloved Mother and her beloved Sister Marion, and our Uncle Jones.  She treated our uncle as if he was her brother. And, of course my Daddy (whether she likes that or not). Rest in Peace Moma, I love you. Your daughter, Jaime
