Dorothy Jane Pickering, born on October 27, 1919, peacefully was called to heaven on June 19, 2013 to join her loved ones. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, whom she adored, and her husband George H. Pickering, son Robert H. Pickering and sister’s Janet and
Phyllis. DJ lived a "June Cleaver" life. She would dress up at 5:00pm in heels and pearls, and have cocktails and dinner prepared. She had so many friends and loved ones. She was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Her father owned a Willis Overland car dealership. He entertained many famous people such as will Rogers and Henry ford. He also sang with Caruso. Her mother was the first woman driver in the county, and was an Elocution teacher. During the Great Depression, she sold corsets door to door to keep food on the table. During DJ's life time, she had many adventures with her husband George. They traveled to Europe and lived in Mexico City, Chile and Guadalajara. DJ is survived by her daughter, Barbara Pickering D.D.S., son in law, Milton G. Sampson III and grandson, Milton Brian Sampson.
I am also sure she would want to thank her caregivers, Carolina Kriticos and Sharon Nelson, who took care of her and loved her for the great lady she was.
A funeral service will be held Monday, June 24, 2013, at 10:00 am, at Forest Park East Funeral Home, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, Tx 77598.
