Dorothy Jean Owen Miller, 91, passed away on July 15, 2018 from a long struggle with Alzheimers. She was born on December 2, 1926 in Centerville Township, Illinois to Gladys Ermyn and Benjamin Joseph Owen. She was a long time resident of the Clear Lake Shores/Kemah/League City area. She was married to Harold William (Bruce) Miller, Jr. on June 8, 1946, celebrating 60 years together. Dorothy attended Texas City High School, Elliot Business College, and was employed by Union Carbide, Cabot Corporation, and Basic International. In 1980, she went back to school to become a real estate agent for Century 21 and Remax Clear Lake and was a top seller. She was a member of the Kemah Elks Lodge and a lifetime member of the Women’s VFW Aux, American Legion, and Professional Business Women’s Association. After retiring she traveled the world with her sister, Alice Bailey, and was a member of various senior clubs in the Clear Lake area. She loved all things fun and exciting.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband Harold William (Bruce) Miller, Jr.; son Bruce David Miller, and brother Ben Owen.
She is survived by her loving family: sister Alice Bailey; children Lynda Jackson and husband Larry and Mark Miller and wife Renae; daughters-in-law Diane Miller and Janice Miller; grandchildren Chris Jackson and wife Latisha, Clint Jackson and wife Shannon, Stephanie Stewart and husband Brad, Shawn Miller and wife Joanne, Amber Miller, Melissa Appleton and husband Evan, Shelby Luckert and husband Andreas and Samantha Miller; great-grandchildren Taylor Jackson, Tyler Jackson, Colten Jackson, Cody Jackson, Chloe Jackson, Caylee Jackson, Sydney Jackson Maier, Dylann Miller, Aiden Hartman, Kataleya Miller, and Isaiah Miller; great-great-grandson Hunter Jackson; and many loving and caring nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 28, 2018 from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at Forest Park East Funeral Home and Cemetery, 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas, 77598. Memorial Service will follow.
