Doris, known by many as “Dot”, lived a beautiful Christian life of servanthood. As an accomplished pianist, she played both the piano and organ for numerous churches, weddings, Children’s Church Camps and Children’s Bible Schools. In addition, Doris was always extremely involved in her church’s musical program primarily by singing in the choir and she thoroughly enjoyed every minute! As a charter member of New Life Community Church she played a key role in our local Children’s Ministries as well as the “Network of Love” Street Ministries in the downtown Houston area.
Mother was a tremendous strength to our entire family unit as she was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and sister. She could be counted on by all of us to be our faithful “prayer warrior” and support. Her beauty shone both inside and out. As an only child, she was my best friend and mentor who gave me clear direction throughout my most impressionable years yet still loving me unconditionally. Because of her strength, guidance, example, prayer and wisdom, a clear path lies before me leaving no questions as to how I should live life!
I will miss your sweet smile, your unwavering support and confidence in me, and on lonely nights, I’ll reflect on happy family moments watching you make your delicious peanut butter candy at my request. I am both proud and honored to be your daughter. You will be greatly missed, but never forgotten.
She was preceded in death by parents, Velma and William Lynn; husband, James Harrison “Bud” Weygandt.
She is survived by sister, Gladys Davis; daughter, Lynnette Palmer and son-in-law Jim Palmer; grandson, Travis Graef and wife Katie Graef; great-grandchildren, Emma Jade and Coral Vail.
A visitation will be held Thursday, August 2, 2018 from 10:00am to 11:30 am at Forest Park East Funeral Home 21620 Gulf Freeway, Webster, Texas 77598. A Graveside Service will immediately follow at Forest Park East Cemetery.
