Dora was born to Agustin and Juanita Melchor, March 28, 1941, in Houston, Texas. She graduated from South Houston High School in 1959. She married David Reeves McLendon on February 24, 1962 and they lived together in Houston, Texas. Together they raised 3 children (Chris, David “Randy”, & Suzy).
She is survived by her husband David Reeves McLendon; Sons: Chris McLendon and wife Birdy Sanchez, & David “Randy” McLendon and wife Vanessa; Daughter Suzy Hendricks. She leaves behind 4 grandchildren; Steven McLendon, Jessica McLendon and husband Adrian Rodriguez, Lauren Hendricks, and Christian Hendricks. She leaves behind 2 great grandchildren; Desmond McLendon and Elliana McLendon. She also leaves behind extended family and friends. Dora leaves behind her sisters Rosemary Mascarenhas and Margie Melchor; brothers Charles and Ernest Melchor, and many caring and loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by parents Agustin and Juanita Melchor, brothers Agustin Melchor Jr., Joe Melchor, and Ray Melchor.
Dora worked as a loan officer for Gulf Coast Educators FCU for 25 years. She enjoyed making ceramics, loved gardening, shopping with anyone, traveling, spending quality time with her family, baking with her grandchildren, keeping her children and grandchildren on the straight and narrow. She will always be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She will be especially missed by her husband, children, and grandchildren.
A visitation will occur Thursday, January 25, 2024 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with a Rosary at 7:00PM, at Forest Park East Funeral Home,21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598. A visitation will occur Friday, January 26, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at St. Paul The Apostle Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Dr, Houston, Texas 77058. A funeral mass will occur Friday, January 26, 2024 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at St Paul the Apostle Catholic Church, 18223 Point Lookout Dr, Houston, TX 77058. A graveside service will occur Friday, January 26, 2024 from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM, 21620 Gulf Fwy, Webster, TX 77598.
