She was raised in Jacinto City where she attended Furr High School. After her children were grown she became a certified Dietician and worked in numerous Nursing Homes and retired from Aramark in 2000 when she moved to Waco to be near her daughters and grandchildren.
Donna marched to the beat of her own drum. In 2004, after moving to Waco, she began attending AA. Once finding sobriety herself, she helped many other women find their road to recovery. She moved back to Houston in 2016 to live with her son, Jay, and was a huge help in the Celebrate Recovery Ministry at Life Church. She found many friends at CR and was able to help in the kitchen each Sunday night to prepare snacks for the group. She also loved her senior small group and couldn't wait for the next semester to begin.
Donna loved reading, cooking, watching movies and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her dad, mom and younger sister, Faye. She will be deeply missed by her children, Jay Melton, wife, Cindy; Ricky Pace, wife, Anita; Kathryn Dowdle, husband, Tim; Tony Coker; and Julie Wilson, husband, Phillip.
