Demetrio grew up in the South Houston area and he graduated from Dr. Kirk Lewis Career and Technical High School in 2020. And he received certification in technology and engineering. He was very smart and did well in school; knowing that his education was very important. Demetrio joined the Army National Guard in 2021 becoming an infantryman then promoted August 2022 to Specialist (SPC).
His favorite thing to do was play video games. He also enjoyed working out. He loved his mother's homemade dish of chicharron con frijoles! Even though his taste in music was different from his brothers, he still appreciated theirs. That was the best thing about Demetrio, he always put everyone first. He loved buying special gifts or "gadgets" for his family and friends. Those gifts would be small, but so meaningful to him because it would bring him joy to make others smile. His generosity was greatly appreciated and will be dearly missed. Love was his language!
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Juvenal Ramos.
Demetrio is survived by his mother and father, Cristell and Jesus Torres; brothers Issac Torres and Emiliano Torres; sister Kendra Torres; paternal grandparents Arnulfo and Rosa A. Torres; maternal grandmothers Marianela Ramos and Maria D. Ramos; aunts, uncles, and cousins; girlfriend Melanie Estrada; best friends Elian Gonzalez and Daniel Guel.
