Daniel Roberto Jackson left us on December 10th , 2021 with his father Hesley “Ferris” Jackson and brother David Ricardo Jackson by his side. Daniel Jackson was born in Houston, Texas on July 2, 1984 to Leila Pauline Jackson and Hesley Ferris Jackson. At three months, Leila Pauline Jackson died, survived by Daniel, his father, Ferris Jackson and his 15-yr. old brother David Jackson.
Daniel’s father, Ferris Jackson remarried in 1990, with his wife Shirley bringing to the union Daniel’s new brothers Owin Danzell and Chris Danzell as well as his new sister Cherryann Danzell Edwards. This was a happy occasion as Daniel got the benefit of living in an enlarged family setting. Towards the end of Daniel’s junior year, he broke his neck and became a complete quadriplegic. He returned to school and graduated the following year in time to enter U of H as a freshman. Daniel thoroughly enjoyed his college years and made many fast friends, graduating in December 2007 with a Communications Degree. Daniel became a lifelong Cougar’s fan. After graduation, Daniel took teachers’ training and entered the profession as a substitute teacher. He couldn’t wait to get with the students in his classes. He once said that he enjoyed these experiences with his students so much, he would be happy teaching even if he wasn’t paid. All in all, he taught for about ten years. COVID brought on a seemingly insurmountable challenge for substitute teaching. Since he needed his lips to drive the joystick on his power wheelchair, he could not wear a mask. He decided to wait until COVID had passed and the mask requirement dropped before returning back to teaching. Unfortunately, at the time of his passing, COVID was still rampant and a mask requirement was still enforced.
Daniel Jackson leaves to mourn his passing family members David, Chris, Owin, his sister Cherryann and his father Ferris. In truth, it may be more accurate to say that almost everyone he met is in mourning. Daniel’s personality was so loving, helpful and kind that he left a strong positive impression on most people with whom he came into contact.
Daniel was full of life, adventurous, impulsive, independent and at times persistent. Many people will also remember his keen sense of humor and his quick wit.
Daniel was a very special person who turned on many smiles and lightened many a room. He has added value to so many people’s lives and has raised so many people’s spirits. We will all miss him greatly.
We would like to thank all those who visited with us, called to offer their condolences, posted reminiscences of their time with Daniel, prayed for him and provided support in other ways. May he rest in eternal peace.
