Buddy Jarvis, 96, of Friendswood, TX, passed away on April 11, 2024. He was born on January 5, 1928, in Kemp, TX. Buddy, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, is survived by his wife of 69 years, Lucille Jarvis, his children Janis Jarvis (Sandy), Julane Campbell, and Gaylan Jarvis (Laura). He is also survived by his grandchildren Jason Campbell (Deborah), Justin Campbell (Ashley), Jaret Campbell (Ashley), Samantha Weaver (Jonothan), TJ Sims, Marissa Jarvis (Dylan), and great-grandchildren Jaydon Campbell, Kaeleigh Campbell, Zackary Campbell, Zoie Campbell, Ayden Escochea, Cullen Campbell, Greyson Campbell, McKenna McArthur, Hazel McArthur, and Scarlett McArthur.
He was preceded in death by his father Claude Gasaway Jarvis, mother Bertie Ella Jarvis, sister Donna Jean Schmidt, and son-in-law James Henry Campbell.
Claude, also known as Buddy, was a Master Sergeant in the US Army, serving as a Communication Specialist. He attended the University of Houston and University of Texas. Buddy loved Burnt Orange and wore it as often as he could. He dedicated his career to the Texas Department of Transportation for 31 years. Buddy loved sharing his knowledge about Traffic Signal Control by teaching extension classes at Texas A&M University, often wearing a University of Texas shirt. Buddy and Lucille spent 15 years volunteering at Clear Lake Hospital, welcoming and assisting each person as they visited.
He worshipped at the First Baptist Church Friendswood where he served as a Deacon and a Greeter, always with a smile. Buddy derived pleasure from various hobbies, including embarking on global adventures to explore every continent, engaging in hunting, and fishing activities, overseeing Gaylan’s little league baseball team, tending to his garden, and indulging in the joy of reading. He was often requested as a “Brisket Master” for events and has passed that down to Gaylan, Jason, and Justin.
A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 22, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. at Forest Park East in Webster, TX, with a visitation one hour prior to where friends and family can pay their respects and honor Buddy's life and legacy.
